Author: Staff // Category: Home Brewing RecipesMost of western recipes such as in Rachael Ray or Martha Stewart contains alcohol, but if your one to stay away from alcohol or beer, because muslims are not allowed to consume, does anybody know what can it be substituted with? espically in chicken dishes or stews or any recipe that uses alcohol.

The alcohol is cooked out during the cooking process. Wine or beer is really used to cook as more of a flavoring to a dish. The alcohol will totally cook out of the meal! If you are still unsure about using it, try subbing with chicken stock/broth or beef broth.

why dont you just cook with alcohol. i was under the impression that muslims didnt drink because of the mental effects. and using it only as a cooking tool does not give you any mental effects at all ie. being drunk or buzzed it just changes flavour.

You can sub in some Non-alcoholic beer for taste or just use chicken broth. Wine is another story, but as has been said. when the dish reaches 180 degrees F, the alcohol burns off. It’s all flavor at that point.
